Veteran actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has opened up about the shocking decision to block many of her Nollywood colleagues shortly after tying the knot, citing a deep fear of divorce as her reason.
Speaking during a candid chat on Oyinmomo TV, Aiyeola revealed that she deliberately distanced herself from the film industry and cut off several friendships to protect her home. “When I got married, I blocked many of my colleagues—not because they offended me, but because I didn’t want anything to affect my marriage. I was scared. I didn’t want to mess things up,” she said.
The popular actress, who made her mark in the early 2000s, made it clear that her husband never pressured her to abandon her career. Rather, it was her personal decision to step back. “It wasn’t my husband. He never asked me to quit. But I was afraid. I just wanted to focus on my home and avoid any temptation or misunderstanding that could lead to divorce,” she stated.
Having taken time off to raise her children and build her family, Aiyeola is now gradually reconnecting with the industry. Her revelation has sparked widespread reactions from fans and insiders, many of whom praised her courage and commitment to her marriage.
