President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the Super Falcons of Nigeria for their dramatic triumph over South Africa in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), describing their performance as “superlative.”
The Falcons secured a 2-1 win in Casablanca to book their place in the final, drawing nationwide applause. Tinubu, reacting via his official X handle on Monday night, praised the team’s courage and unwavering spirit.
In his words: “I congratulate our Super Falcons for their superlative performance in the semifinal match against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa. It was a magnificent display of dexterity, flair, strength and determination.”
He went on to rally national support behind the team ahead of the final, saying: “We are solidly behind you. Go and soar in the final. Go and bring the trophy home!”
The President’s message comes as the nine-time African champions chase a record-extending 10th title, with their eyes firmly set on lifting the continental trophy once again.
