Award-winning Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has officially announced the end of her working relationship with her former manager, Kemi “Mekka” Akunyili. The singer made this known in a strongly worded statement shared via her Instagram page on Saturday, July 27.
Tiwa expressed deep frustration over repeated incidents involving Mekka allegedly receiving payments for bookings without her authorization. She warned fans, promoters, and event organizers that she would no longer honour any agreements or bookings made through him.
“I do not work with Mekka anymore. Please for bookings contact [email protected]. Any bookings that go through any other channel will be void, and you will lose your money,” she stated.
According to the singer, despite several warnings, individuals and clients continue to route performance fees through Mekka. Tiwa stressed that even if such arrangements eventually reach her, she would decline them outright.
She wrote: “Abeg e don do. I have nothing to do with Mekka. Even if it goes through him and eventually gets to me, I will refuse the booking. I have said it many times, but people still call him for bookings. I just got a call that the money for a booking I have coming up was just paid to his personal account. Your people will lose your money.”
Tiwa, who rarely addresses personal issues publicly, said she felt compelled to clear the air for the sake of transparency and to protect future engagements.
She concluded by directing all future business inquiries to her new manager, Vanessa Amadi.
