Femi Kuti Stuns Fans With 24 North American Shows in One Month at 63

LagosExplorer reports: Nigerian Afrobeat legend, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, has left fans across the world in awe after successfully performing 24 shows in just one month during his ongoing North American tour. The 63-year-old music icon, who has carried the Afrobeat torch for decades, once again proved his stamina, passion, and global influence with a record-breaking performance schedule across the United States and Canada.

The feat was proudly announced by his son, Made Kuti, who described his father’s consistency as extraordinary. Made, himself a Grammy-nominated musician, celebrated the achievement on social media, praising Femi for showing that age is no barrier to creativity and excellence on the global stage.

The tour comes on the heels of Femi Kuti’s latest album, Journey Through Life, released on April 25, 2025. The project has been praised for its bold blend of Afrobeat, jazz, funk, and traditional Nigerian rhythms, a style Femi has perfected over the years while addressing issues of corruption, governance, and social justice through his music.

Born into the legendary Ransome-Kuti family, Femi began his solo journey in 1989 with the release of No Cause For Alarm. Since then, he has released globally acclaimed projects including Shoki Shoki, Fight to Win, Day by Day, No Place for My Dream, and Stop the Hate. His career has earned him six Grammy nominations, international collaborations with stars such as Coldplay, Mos Def, Common, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as sold-out concerts in some of the world’s biggest cities.

Beyond music, Femi Kuti is the artistic director of the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, a hub for Afrobeat and cultural resistance, where his father Fela once ignited a global movement. His current North America tour is another reminder that Femi remains one of Africa’s strongest cultural exports, carrying the Afrobeat message of resilience and truth to new generations worldwide.

At 63, while many artistes would be slowing down, Femi Kuti continues to push boundaries, proving that Afrobeat is not just music but a legacy that lives on through stamina, activism, and global relevance.
