Jim Iyke Sparks Outrage with Claim That Doctors Are “Trained Not to Heal”

LagosExplorer reports: Nollywood star Jim Iyke has ignited a storm of controversy after claiming that medical doctors are “basically trained all through their career not to heal.” The award-winning actor made the explosive remark during a recent appearance on The Echoo Room podcast hosted by reality TV star Teddy A, describing the healthcare system as a “trillion-dollar business” that thrives on keeping patients dependent rather than healthy.

Jim Iyke — born James Ikechukwu Esomugha — is one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, with over two decades in the film industry and more than 150 movie credits to his name. Known for his unapologetic personality and headline-grabbing statements, the actor has a history of stirring debate both on and off screen. Fans who have followed his career say this latest comment is classic Iyke — blunt, provocative, and guaranteed to dominate headlines.

According to the actor, the global medical industry operates under a system where “if they heal you completely, you won’t return.” He claimed that this business model benefits pharmaceutical companies and health institutions financially, alleging that “big pharma” has no real incentive to eliminate diseases. Iyke also linked the rise of genetically modified foods (GMOs) and processed products to worsening public health, insisting that the system is “structured to keep you sick.”
