Nosa Rex Explodes Over Ghana TV Piracy

LagosExplorer reports: Popular Nollywood actor Nosa Rex has unleashed a furious attack on a Ghanaian television station for allegedly pirating and broadcasting his latest movie, Prince of Peace, just hours after it premiered on YouTube. The actor, known for his outspoken personality and hit roles in Nigerian cinema, took to Instagram to condemn what he described as blatant theft of his intellectual property—a problem that has long plagued African filmmakers.

In an emotionally charged video, Rex did not mince words. “Ghana TV stations, una don too much. Ghana entertainment will continue to be behind… you guys are all stupid,” he fumed, accusing broadcasters of disrespecting creative work and undermining the entertainment industry. His anger escalated to a dramatic warning: “Na Ogun wey go kpai all of una,” invoking a traditional curse on the alleged perpetrators.

The incident highlights the growing tension between Nollywood and Ghanaian broadcasters over piracy and copyright violations. Earlier this year, actress Omoni Oboli blasted Ghanaian TV channels for airing her films without authorisation. Bimbo Ademoye also accused a Ghanaian station of stealing her film’s title and poster design, while Ruth Kadiri reportedly sent legal notices to stop similar unauthorised broadcasts.

Industry experts say such piracy not only robs filmmakers of revenue but also discourages investment in the African entertainment sector. “It’s not just about money; it’s about respect for the creative process,” said one film producer, noting that digital platforms like YouTube are meant to give filmmakers control over distribution.

The Prince of Peace controversy has sparked a fresh wave of calls for stricter enforcement of copyright laws across the continent. As Nollywood continues to dominate Africa’s film market, actors like Nosa Rex insist they will no longer tolerate exploitation.

With social media amplifying these disputes, many believe the era of silent acceptance of piracy may finally be coming to an end.
