Nigerian rap sensation Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has declared that he would willingly donate ₦1 billion to the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) if he had such an amount, in open support of Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent appeal for billion-naira contributions from wealthy members.
The rapper made the statement on Monday, August 11, via his official X account, stressing that giving to God’s work should be voluntary and heartfelt, not compelled. “If I had a billion to contribute to the RCCG, I will do it and even more. As for me and my household, we will continue to support the work of Christ shamelessly no matter what you people throw at us. You are just fulfilling the scriptures. God bless you,” he posted.
Odumodublvck, known for blending street culture with his Christian faith, defended the church’s financial request, insisting that running a ministry requires significant resources. “You cannot run a business without funding. The same applies to the work of Christ. The Holy Spirit will not fix sound systems or pay electricity bills,” he argued.
He further pointed out that pastors often provide personal assistance to struggling members. “Do you have any idea of the number of people your priest or local pastor supports? After church, you and your family just go to Mr Biggs and enjoy your weekend. You should be thankful you are not among those waiting for small handouts from the pastor,” he said.
The rapper’s comments have sparked fresh debate on social media, with supporters praising his stance and critics questioning the necessity of such large donations in a country facing economic hardship.
