Mohbad’s Son: Court Orders DNA Test Amid Paternity Dispute

LagosExplorer reports: The controversy surrounding the paternity of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad’s son, has taken a new twist after a Lagos Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu ordered a DNA test on the child, Liam Aloba.

According to Daily Post, the order was issued on Tuesday after Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, filed a motion seeking to confirm the true paternity of the two-year-old. The child’s mother, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, did not oppose the application, which cleared the way for the court to give its directive.

The court directed that two separate tests should be conducted—one in Nigeria and another abroad—in accredited facilities to ensure transparency. Both parties were also mandated to have representatives present during the sample collection. The case was adjourned until November 11 for further proceedings.

Mohbad, who passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, left behind his only child Liam, whose paternity has become the subject of heated public debate. Since the singer’s death, hashtags such as #JusticeForMohbad and #MohbadDNA have continued to trend on social media, reflecting how emotionally invested fans remain in the matter.

The court’s decision has drawn mixed reactions across Nigeria. Some believe the test will finally end speculation and secure clarity for the child’s future, while others argue it places an emotional burden on the grieving mother and her son.
