NNPC Names Odeh, Adewunmi to Lead Communications and Relations

LagosExplorer reports: The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has appointed veteran corporate strategist Andy Odeh as its new Chief Corporate Communications Officer and legal expert Morenike Adewunmi as Chief Relations Officer in a major shake-up aimed at strengthening the company’s public image and stakeholder engagement.

The appointments, confirmed on Tuesday, mark a significant move by the national oil giant as it seeks to reposition its brand and deepen strategic communication with partners, regulators, and the wider Nigerian public.

Odeh brings over 30 years of cross-sector experience spanning oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting. He spent 26 years with Nigeria LNG, where he held key positions in external relations, regulatory compliance, and community development, eventually serving as General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development. During his tenure, he drove NLNG’s rebranding efforts, spearheaded the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, and initiated a micro-credit scheme that benefited host communities.

Adeyemi Adewunmi, on the other hand, joins the NNPC executive ranks with more than 25 years in the oil and gas sector. A lawyer by profession, she built her career at Shell Companies in Nigeria, where she managed government relations and regulatory affairs. Her work established strong ties with the Presidency, key ministries, and industry regulators, ensuring smooth stakeholder engagement and mitigating non-technical risks.

Industry watchers say the combination of Odeh’s corporate communications background and Adewunmi’s regulatory expertise is expected to give NNPC a sharper voice in the competitive energy sector.
