LagosExplorer reports: Nigeria’s comedy industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of fast-rising skit maker, Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Mr. Sanku Comedy. The entertainer was confirmed dead on Monday after a fatal car accident along the Oyo–Ogbomoso Road in Ibadan.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that Sanku’s vehicle veered off the highway and plunged into a ditch, leaving him and a friend critically injured. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but were later pronounced dead by medical personnel. Graphic images and videos of the wreckage have since gone viral on social media, sparking nationwide grief among fans and colleagues.
Sanku, who began making waves in the skit industry in 2021, had carved a niche for himself with his unique style of comedy that resonated with Nigerian youths online. His creative skits earned him a growing fanbase and positioned him as one of the emerging stars in Nigeria’s entertainment space.
The news of his death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from celebrities, fellow comedians, and fans. Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa expressed deep sorrow after confirming his passing through a student contact near Bowen Hospital, where Sanku was taken after the crash. Fans have flooded platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram with heartfelt condolences, describing his demise as a huge loss to the creative industry.
