Veteran journalist and publisher Al Humphrey Onyanabo has announced a new partnership with the Charly Boy Foundation to launch a weekly column focused on prostate health. The column, titled Manhood Matters, is set to begin on July 15, 2025, and will be published across several platforms.
The initiative aims to break long-standing cultural silence around prostate-related illnesses among Nigerian men. Through weekly articles, the column will offer expert insights, survivor testimonies, practical health tips, and emotional support, all aimed at promoting early detection and open dialogue.
Doris Udensi, General Manager of the Charly Boy Foundation, emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying, “Prostate is real. Our men are suffering silently but help is on the way. This partnership is part of our larger vision to create awareness and improve access to information and support. With Manhood Matters, we are expanding that mission into every home, every community, and every conversation.”
Al Humphrey Onyanabo described the column as a personal mission to educate and inspire change. “Manhood Matters is more than a column; it’s a movement to restore men’s health, dignity, and longevity. We will tell the truth, break the taboos, and offer practical guidance,” he said.
In addition to raising awareness, the column will highlight free screening programs, counseling services, and upcoming awareness events championed by the Foundation. At the end of its first publication cycle, the entire series will be compiled into a practical prostate health guidebook, reinforcing the campaign’s long-term impact.
With prostate health challenges becoming increasingly prevalent among Nigerian men, this collaboration signals a timely and bold step toward changing the narrative and encouraging men to prioritize their well-being.
