Katsina Halts Work to Honour Buhari
The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, a public holiday to mourn the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London at the age of 83.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, said the gesture was to enable residents of the state—Buhari's home—to participate fully in prayers and tributes for the late leader.
Describing Buhari as a nationalist, patriot, and statesman, Radda said the former president lived a life of service and selflessness that would remain a model for future generations. He extended heartfelt condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina, and Nigerians at large, while praying for Allah’s mercy on his soul and a place in Aljannatul Firdaus.
