Kunle Afolayan Launches Luxury 115-Seater Cinema in Lagos

LagosExplorer reports that celebrated Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has unveiled a brand-new 115-seater cinema named in his honour, further cementing his legacy in Nollywood and the Nigerian entertainment industry. 



The grand unveiling took place with notable personalities in attendance, including fashion entrepreneur Seyi Vodi and political figure Jandor, who joined Afolayan on a guided tour of the impressive facility.

The cinema, now officially called the Kunle Afolayan Cinema, boasts state-of-the-art equipment, luxurious seating, and an intimate yet stylish atmosphere designed to offer audiences a premium viewing experience. The unveiling was celebrated with excitement on social media, as Afolayan shared a video of the walkthrough, drawing admiration from fans and colleagues across the country.

This milestone comes shortly after Afolayan launched his ambitious KAP Film Village & Resort in Igbojaiye, Oyo State. That 60-acre creative complex was designed to house film production, training, and tourism facilities, signaling a new era in the integration of cinema and hospitality in Nigeria. With this latest move, Afolayan expands his influence in both filmmaking and cultural entrepreneurship.

Over the years, Kunle Afolayan has become a household name, producing critically acclaimed films such as The Figurine, Phone Swap, Citation, and Aníkúlápó. As a recipient of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and a voting member of the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, he continues to redefine what is possible within the Nigerian film industry.
