Kunle Afolayan Wins Big at Oyo Tourism Summit

Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film Village Honoured at International Tourism Summit in Oyo

KAP Film Village & Resort has emerged as a standout attraction at the International Tourism Investment Summit (#ITSOyoState2025), held in Ibadan, Oyo State, from July 22 to 24, 2025. The high-level event brought together stakeholders across Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industries — from government officials and investors to developers and creatives — all focused on unlocking the state’s tourism potential.

The summit spotlighted key opportunities in eco-tourism, heritage preservation, hospitality, and destination development. With vibrant discussions and strategic networking, it aimed to bridge the gap between government-backed projects and private-sector partners committed to promoting culture, community, and sustainable growth.

The highlight of the summit came during the Governor’s Dinner and Tourism Awards Night, where filmmaker and entrepreneur Kunle Afolayan, founder and CEO of KAP Film Village & Resort, was honoured with the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The award, described by attendees as well-deserved, recognised Afolayan’s contribution to cultural tourism through the development of the KAP Film Village in Igbojaye, Oyo State. What started as a creative vision has transformed into one of Nigeria’s most talked-about destinations, blending storytelling, local heritage, and tourism into one powerful experience.

“This isn’t just my dream,” Afolayan said after receiving the award. “It’s the result of a passionate team that continues to believe in what we’re building — a place rooted in African identity, art, and authentic hospitality.”

KAP Film Village & Resort has quickly earned a reputation not just as a retreat, but as a cultural hub that fuels local investment, preserves tradition, and showcases the richness of Nigerian stories.

The KAP team expressed appreciation to the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, as well as summit organizers, the Deputy Governor, and the Ministry of Tourism for their continued support.

“This honour isn’t the finish line,” Afolayan said. “It’s a signal to keep going — to keep telling our stories and creating something Nigerians can be proud of.”

Located in the serene town of Igbojaye, KAP Film Village & Resort invites visitors to experience nature, creativity, and culture without leaving the country. Whether seeking rest, inspiration, or adventure, guests are promised an unforgettable getaway crafted with heart.
