Omawumi Slams Timaya Over False Burna Boy Studio Allegation

Omawumi dismisses Timaya’s viral podcast story, insists her brand stands for truth and respect.

Nigerian music star Omawumi has publicly denied Timaya’s recent claim that Burna Boy once asked her and Waje to leave a recording studio after they doubted his potential for success. Speaking in a recent interview with Naija FM, the award-winning vocalist described the story as completely untrue and unnecessary.

“That thing no happen,” Omawumi said bluntly, expressing disappointment that her name was used in what she described as a fabricated narrative. She questioned why Timaya would involve her in a story that, according to her, has no basis in reality.

“I’ve been in this industry for over 20 years. I have built a brand that is rooted in mutual respect. I don’t joke with my reputation, and I don’t like it when people throw my name around to push a point that never existed,” she stated.

Omawumi clarified that the only time she, Waje, Timaya, and Burna Boy were ever in a studio together was in 2010, during a session where Waje was recording with Burna Boy. According to her, she left the studio early because it was getting late, and there was no conflict or incident of anyone being sent out.

“There was never any moment Burna Boy told us to leave or that we doubted him. That entire story is fiction,” she added.

Omawumi’s reaction comes in response to a viral podcast interview where Timaya narrated the alleged incident as a turning point in Burna Boy’s journey. But her swift rebuttal not only challenges the accuracy of his claims but also highlights the importance of respecting the truth, especially in an industry where reputations matter deeply.
