LagosExplorer reports that beloved Nigerian actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has opened up about the personal struggles that delayed his journey to marriage. In a recent emotional interview, the veteran entertainer disclosed that he battled with self-doubt and financial hardship during his early years, both of which made him feel unworthy of starting a family.
According to Saka, he got married at the age of 40—not by choice, but because his circumstances at the time left him feeling insecure and unprepared. He explained that back then, there was little financial reward in the theatre arts industry, and actors like himself were barely recognised or appreciated. The lack of money and societal respect weighed heavily on him, making it difficult to pursue a meaningful relationship.
He recalled being in a relationship with a woman who demanded he own two cars before they could get married. That moment, he said, became a turning point. He realised that anyone who truly loved him wouldn’t put material conditions on marriage, especially when he was already struggling just to get by.
Despite these setbacks, Saka expressed gratitude that he eventually married at a time when he had gained maturity, stability, and a clear sense of purpose. He said that although he started late, he was fully ready—emotionally and financially—to commit to building a home.
Today, Saka is happily married to his wife, Olaide Oyetoro, and they are blessed with three children. He continues to balance his career in acting with his role as a university lecturer, choosing to focus on providing the best life for his family rather than chasing public acclaim or luxury.
LagosExplorer celebrates Saka’s journey as a testament to patience, self-discovery, and the value of finding love when one is truly ready.
