LagosExplorer reports: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially set the stage for the 2027 general elections with the announcement that nomination and expression of interest forms for national offices will be available from Wednesday. The move, coming barely a week after the party zoned its presidential ticket to the South, has intensified political maneuvering among party heavyweights.
According to insider documents sighted by the Nigerian Tribune, the PDP’s Directorate of Finance at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat in Abuja will handle the form sales, while completed forms are expected to be submitted to the Directorate of Organization and Mobilisation on or before September 26. Aspirants will then face screenings scheduled for September 30, in preparation for the party’s highly anticipated national convention set for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Already, political actors are heating up the race. In Oyo, federal lawmaker Adedeji “Odidiomo” Olajide has revealed plans to purchase the PDP presidential nomination form on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, urging him to step forward as the South-West’s most credible contender for 2027. “Governor Makinde is the voice of the South-West, and this is the time for him to take charge,” Olajide declared, sparking excitement among loyalists.
Meanwhile, PDP leaders in Lagos are debunking rumours that the opposition may withdraw from the 2027 presidential contest. Party stalwart Tokunbo Pearse described such reports as “APC propaganda” designed to weaken confidence in the PDP’s readiness. “Nothing can be further from the truth. The PDP is strong, united, and determined to return to power,” Pearse asserted.
As Nigeria inches toward 2027, all eyes will be on the PDP convention in Ibadan, where the first major signals of the opposition’s comeback strategy are expected to emerge.
