Sujimoto CEO Ogundele Vows to Clear His Name After EFCC Declares Him Wanted

LagosExplorer reports that Olasijibomi Ogundele, popularly known as Suji, the Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction, has reacted after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared him wanted over alleged money laundering and diversion of funds.

In a viral video shared online, the luxury real estate developer appeared emotional as he denied any wrongdoing and insisted he was not a fugitive. “I am not a thief, I am not a fugitive. I will go to the EFCC to clear my name,” he said, stressing his determination to cooperate with investigators and defend his reputation.

Sharing on X handle, the EFCC’s wanted notice, issued on September 5 and signed by its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, described Ogundele as a 44-year-old indigene of Ori-Ade, Osun State, who resides in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos. The anti-graft agency called on Nigerians with useful information to report to its offices nationwide.

Ogundele linked the controversy to a failed contractual project with the Enugu State Government, which he described as a business dispute rather than a criminal matter. He explained that inflation, manpower shortages, and soaring prices of building materials—such as cement rising from ₦7,000 to ₦10,000—delayed delivery timelines and created disputes.

The Sujimoto boss further recalled that his company once handled landmark design projects, including what was intended to be Nigeria’s tallest building, but setbacks in financing and logistics dragged the project into legal battles that dented his firm’s image.

This is not the first time the businessman has faced scrutiny. In October 2024, reports emerged that the police questioned him over a petition involving an alleged $325,000 property transaction, though he denied the claims.

Ogundele, however, maintained that his mission is to protect the brand he built and clear his name before the EFCC. His emotional reaction has since drawn public attention, with Nigerians divided over whether the case is a genuine fraud investigation or fallout from failed real estate contracts.
