Renowned Nollywood actor Don Richard has made an emotional public appeal for financial assistance as he battles a life-threatening kidney disease that has left him drained—physically, emotionally, and financially.
In a video shared by fellow actress Biola Bayo, the veteran thespian opened up about the toll the illness has taken on him and his family. With visible distress, he revealed that he has already sold his car and house in a desperate bid to fund his treatment, but those efforts are no longer enough.
“My wife was in tears the moment she found out about my condition. We had to sell everything—our house, my car—just to keep up with the treatments. Now, I have nothing left,” he said in the clip.
The ailing actor also shared a deeply personal moment, admitting he had pleaded with his wife not to abandon him despite the overwhelming hardship. “She knows everything about me—my secrets, my struggles, my journey. I told her, ‘Please don’t leave me,’” he said.
“My name is Don Richard and I believe that the endorsement for any marriage from God is ‘For better for worse,’ but most people only prepare for the better, never the worst,” he added with heavy emotion.
Don Richard, who has graced the Nigerian film industry for decades, is now calling on Nigerians, fans, colleagues, and well-meaning individuals to come to his aid. He urgently requires financial support to continue dialysis and undergo a kidney transplant.
