Royal Honour for Amaechi at Buhari’s Farewell

Amaechi Stuns in Royal Turban at Buhari’s Burial

Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation and one-time Rivers State governor, made a powerful appearance in Daura on Tuesday for the final burial rites of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Amaechi, now addressed with the revered traditional title “Dan Amanar Daura,” arrived at the solemn ceremony dressed in full Northern regalia, turning heads and drawing public admiration.

The Emir of Daura had previously honoured Amaechi with the symbolic title in recognition of his loyalty and service to the Daura Emirate and Nigeria. His appearance at Buhari’s burial, wearing the traditional turban, sent a strong message of cultural unity and deep respect for the late leader. His presence was not only symbolic but also emotional, considering his close ties with Buhari during the 2015 and 2019 campaigns and his time in the Federal Executive Council.

The burial drew national figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and former governors Aminu Tambuwal and Ibikunle Amosun. Mourners gathered in their thousands at the Daura Central Mosque, where Buhari was buried after prayers and military honours were observed.

Amaechi, reflecting on Buhari’s legacy, described the late president as a disciplined and selfless leader whose life was devoted to the service of Nigeria. His turbaned appearance at the burial was more than fashion—it was a striking statement of heritage, honour, and enduring political legacy.
