Tinubu Taps Speaker Abbas to Lead High-Powered APC Peace Mission in Bauchi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given a high-powered presidential committee, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, a strict one-month deadline to reconcile warring factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State.

The newly formed panel, which held its inaugural meeting in Abuja on July 31, is made up of some of the party’s most influential figures. Members include Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, former House Speaker Yakubu Dogara, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Senator Abdullahi Gumel, Chief of Staff to the Speaker Professor Jake Dan-Azumi, and several prominent Bauchi APC leaders.

Also serving on the committee are former governors Mohammed Abubakar and Isa Yuguda, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Professor Ali Pate, Senator Halliru Jika, Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa, former PDP National Chairman Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, and other notable political stakeholders from the state.

The appointment of Abbas and the committee members was confirmed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, who said the task force was created to address years of political divisions that have weakened the APC in Bauchi.

According to the statement, the crisis dates back to the 2015 APC governorship primaries, which left deep scars among party members and created multiple rival camps. The committee has been mandated to embark on a fact-finding mission, engage all sides, and submit actionable recommendations to restore unity in the party.
