LagosExplorer reports: Nigerian activist and social commentator Aisha Yesufu has opened up on why many people, including herself, find it uncomfortable to see former Anambra governor Peter Obi and ex-Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai appear together in public.
In a video she shared on X, Yesufu said that each time she sees El-Rufai, she remembers Abubakar Idris, better known as Dadiyata, a lecturer and government critic who was abducted from his home in Kaduna in 2019
Her reaction followed the recent unveiling of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Owerri, Imo State, where Obi and El-Rufai were present. Yesufu explained that although they were in the same space, but didn't interact with El-Rufai.
“Every time I see El-Rufai, I am reminded of Dadiyata. At the ADC unveiling, we were in the same space but we did not exchange words. Politics is not a love affair, and we must understand that leadership involves engaging with the good, the bad, and the ugly,” she said.
Who Was Dadiyata and Why His Disappearance Still Haunts Nigeria
Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata, was a Nigerian lecturer, politician and social media activist whose sudden disappearance in 2019 remains one of the country’s most troubling mysteries. A member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dadiyata was well known on Twitter for his bold criticism of government policies and officials, particularly in Kaduna State.
On the night of August 2, 2019, he was abducted by unidentified armed men outside his home in Barnawa, Kaduna, shortly after returning from an outing. Neighbours reported seeing him forced into his own car, which was later found abandoned. Since that day, he has not been seen or heard from.
