LagosExplorer reports: Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has reacted angrily to growing speculations about a possible reconciliation with his estranged wife, Mabel. In a strongly-worded statement shared via Instagram, the entertainer condemned the reports as false, manipulative and insensitive, warning that he would no longer tolerate defamatory stories about his private life.
The comedian wrote: “My attention has been drawn to a series of false, incessant, and insensitive social media posts suggesting that I am in a state of regret and seeking reconciliation in my past relationship. These publications are deliberately manipulative, calculated to mislead the public, and designed solely for traffic and engagement. For clarity, I have never authorized or made any such statements. If I wish to communicate my personal position on any matter, I have the platform, the reach, and the credibility to do so directly — not through faceless blogs and rumour-driven platforms.”
He further stressed that the misleading stories were not only untrue but deliberately spread by blogs seeking cheap engagement. “All such false narratives should be disregarded by the public. Moving forward, the appropriate legal measures will be instituted against individuals, blogs, or platforms that continue to publish, promote, or circulate these defamatory stories. This serves as a final warning: Enough of the lies,” AY added.
The 30 Days in Atlanta producer, who married his estranged wife in 2008 and shares two daughters with her, has often maintained a quiet stance on personal matters. However, this fiery outburst underscores his determination to set the record straight and shield his family from relentless media gossip.
Pledging to take legal action, AY has signalled that he is ready to confront the growing trend of false reports in Nigeria’s entertainment space. His statement has also sparked wide reactions among fans, with many applauding him for drawing a line against fake news.
