LagosExplorer reports: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that Nigeria is aiming to secure trade and investment opportunities worth over $1 billion at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan.
In a statement posted on his official X handle, Tinubu said: “Our participation aims to unlock $1 Billion+ in trade & investment, drive green innovation & industrial growth, expand opportunities for our youth, and position Nigeria as the heart and gateway to West Africa’s vast market.”
He ended his remarks with a bold declaration of Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa, writing: “Nigeria will lead, and Africa will rise.”
TICAD, which was first convened in 1993 by the Japanese government, serves as a global platform for dialogue and partnership between Japan and Africa. The conference brings together heads of state, investors, and development agencies to explore avenues for sustainable growth and cooperation.
