Charly Boy Sounds Alarm Over 2027: “Don’t Let Them Rig Again”

LagosExplorer reports:

Veteran Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerians to rise above fear and hold leaders accountable as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections. Speaking during an interview on the Jay On-Air podcast, Charly Boy passionately called on citizens to resist any form of election manipulation, stressing that Nigeria cannot afford another flawed election.

The activist did not mince words as he highlighted his concerns about corruption and poor leadership, warning that if the people continue to remain silent, meaningful change will never come.

> “All I’m interested in right now is: will our votes count in 2027? How do we do it? How do we get these monsters away from leadership positions?” he asked.

“It’s not about Mr. A stealing more than Mr. B. The people stealing our national wealth are from all the tribes. We know the game.”

According to Charly Boy, Nigeria’s issues are beyond political parties or ethnic divides — they are rooted in a broken system that continues to reward corrupt leaders. He noted that until Nigerians unite to demand justice and fairness, the cycle of poor governance will continue.

A Long History of Speaking Out

Charly Boy has spent decades in the spotlight — not just as a musician and TV host, but also as a fearless voice for the people. In 2018, he led the Our Mumu Don Do campaign, mobilizing young Nigerians to speak out against corruption and demand better governance.

In his latest remarks, he expressed deep frustration with the current state of the nation, adding that the corruption under President Tinubu’s administration is “even worse than Buhari’s.”

Though his words were strong, Charly Boy clarified that his message was not about promoting violence, but about urging Nigerians to take a firm stand for democracy and good governance.

Mixed Reactions from the Public

Nigerians online have responded with a mix of support, concern, and reflection.
